Welcome to this new series of virtual activities to revisit the relevant Awards topics, to examine the scientific advances in each field, and to explore the winners’ new interests in the rapidly evolving scientific world.

This webinar will host PROF. CHRISTIAN HAASS, chair of Biochemistry, Medical Faculty of the Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich, Germany, and Winner of the Hamdan Award for Medical Research Excellence in 2005-2006 for “Cytokines in Pathogenesis & Therapy of Diseases”. Prof. Haass is the speaker of the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE-Munich) and the Munich Cluster for Systems Neurology (SyNergy).

Prof. Haass received many prestigious awards, among them the Potemkin Award of the American Academy of Neurology, the Sheik Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences, the MetLife Award, the Brain Prize, and the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz-Award of the DFG. He is a member of the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO), the Leopoldina (German Academy of Sciences) and the Bavarian Academy of Sciences.

The webinar will also host Dr. Suhail Abdulla Al-Rukn as chairperson. He is Consultant Neurologist, Head of Stroke Program, and Director of Neurology Residency Program at Rashid Hospital, DHA. Currently he serves as the President of Emirates Neurology Society and MENA Stroke Organization. He sits on the executive boards of various scientific associations, steering committee and advisory boards.
